Marcus Stroman News
New York Yankees starting pitcher Marcus Stroman posted a scoreless outing in Wednesday's victory on the road over the Minnesota Twins, firing six inning of two-hit ball with three walks while fanning three. After surrendering four runs in 5 2/3 innings during his previous start against the Houston Astros, Stroman rebounded with his first scoreless showing since April 5. While the soft-throwing 33-year-old right-hander holds a respectable 3.33 ERA with 42 strikeouts through 48 2/3 frames this season, he's also walked 25 and recorded a troublesome 1.42 WHIP over nine starts. He'll get a pretty good matchup at home against the Seattle Mariners in his next scheduled appearance during Monday's series opener, when Stroman will be worth deploying in the majority of fantasy leagues on the heels of this strong performance.
The New York Yankees will be starting right-hander Marcus Stroman on Tuesday against the Oakland Athletics. Stroman is coming off going 5.1 innings allowing two runs on six hits against the Toronto Blue Jays. Stroman is 1-1 with a 2.42 ERA this season, while at home is 0-1 with a 3.27 ERA. The right-hander is going up against an Athletics lineup that is slashing .204/.278/.339 which ranks 28th, 29th, and 26th in the majors.
New York Yankees starting pitcher Marcus Stroman tossed six innings of scoreless ball in Sunday's Grapefruit League contest versus the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. He also allowed four hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Stroman finishes the spring on a high note and overall had a nice Grapefruit League for his new team with a 2.61 ERA over five starts. Stroman was an All-Star for the Chicago Cubs in 2023, but struggled in the second half both on the mound and with injuries. Despite that, Stroman appears to be healthy and should have plenty of run support with his new club in 2024. He makes for a solid middle of the rotation arm for managers in upcoming drafts.

Marcus Stroman signed a two-year, $37 million contract with the New York Yankees this offseason after playing with the Chicago Cubs for two seasons. However, Stroman doesn't provide much fantasy upside later in drafts in 2024. Last year, he had a 3.95 ERA and 119 strikeouts across 136.2 innings pitched. The 32-year-old pitcher does have a career 3.65 ERA and has finished under that mark in three of the past four seasons. But his strikeout numbers have always been low, and his 3.4 BB/9 last year was a career-high. Stroman has a career 7.5 K/9 and 1.253 WHIP. Those are not appealing enough in the later rounds.
