Aaron Judge News
New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge walloped his ninth home run of the year in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the visiting Houston Astros, leaving the yard for the second time in as many days and the third time in the past four outings. Judge's gargantuan 473-foot blast to center field made it a one-run ballgame in the eighth inning, but the Yankees ultimately couldn't rally against All-Star closer Josh Hader. The 32-year-old fantasy superstar's bat has certainly woken up following a slow start to the campaign, now batting .372 with five home runs, 12 RBI, 10 runs scored, and one stolen base over his last 12 games. Judge looks to keep his foot on the gas during a three-game set against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays beginning on Friday, but in 13 games against the Rays since 2023, he's hitting just .146 with two blasts and five RBI.
New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge racked up a season-high eight total bases in Wednesday's 9-4 win over the visiting Houston Astros, homering and doubling with three RBI. Judge clobbered his eighth home run of the campaign in the third inning, later lining a two-run double in the sixth frame. Although the 32-year-old former American League MVP endured a sluggish start to the year, he's batting a stratospheric .385 with four bombs, four two-baggers, 11 RBI, and nine runs scored in his last 11 games since April 27. New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge is playing left field for the first time this season on Monday against the Baltimore Orioles and right-hander Grayson Rodriguez. Judge is in his customary No. 3 spot in the batting order with Trent Grisham getting the start in center field and batting ninth. It's the 32-year-old Judge's first start in left field since 2016 with Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre. The move comes with normal left fielder Alex Verdugo being placed on the paternity list on Monday, so don't be surprised if Judge is in left field a couple more times this week. In his first 109 at-bats of the 2024 season, Judge is hitting just .211 (23-for-109) but with six home runs and 18 RBI in 133 plate appearances. He's gone hitless in his lone career at-bat against Rodriguez.

A year after setting the AL home run record, Aaron Judge was a bit of a let-down in fantasy in 2023. That's down to a freak toe injury which limited the slugger to 106 games. Judge still had 37 homers, 75 RBI, 79 runs and three stolen bases along with a .267/.406/.613 slash line. That was a 162-game pace of 57 homers, 115 RBI, 121 runs and five steals. Everyone would've taken last year when drafting him. Judge would have also led the Majors in home runs if that was the case. Concerns about his health may be misguided. Judge missed a total of 19 games across the 2021 and 2022 seasons and as mentioned, it was a freak injury when crashing into the outfield wall at Dodgers Stadium that cost him eight weeks of the season. Only five teams scored fewer runs than the Yankees in 2023 and they looked to address that issue by acquiring Juan Soto this offseason. The toe injury is behind him and Judge will be entering Spring fully healthy, meaning there's no reason not to use a first-round draft pick on the Yankees Captain.
