Michael Conforto News
San Francisco Giants outfielder Michael Conforto (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Sunday with a right hamstring strain. Conforto was removed from Saturday's game in the fourth inning with the ailment. The 31-year-old was leading the Giants with seven home runs and 40 hits at the time of his injury. Luis Matos was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento as a corresponding move and figures to fit into the outfield mix while Conforto is shelved. Matos is more of a wait-and-see fantasy asset at this point since he has struggled in the minors so far this season.
San Francisco Giants outfielder Michael Conforto (hamstring) exited Saturday's game against the Cincinnati Reds due to a strained right hamstring. Conforto was removed for a pinch-runner after hitting a single in the fourth inning of Saturday's game. He went 1-for-2 with a strikeout before exiting. The 31-year-old is considered day-to-day. According to Giants manager Bob Melvin, Conforto's hamstring "feels mild." Conforto will undergo an MRI on Sunday to determine the severity of the injury. Luis Matos was pulled after two at-bats from the Triple-A Sacramento game and would replace Conforto on the roster. Matos was slashing .221/.312/.361 with three home runs and three steals over 30 games for Triple-A Sacramento in 2024.
San Francisco Giants manager Bob Melvin said that outfielder Michael Conforto (side) has a very slight side issue, which is why he's not in the starting lineup on Monday versus the visiting Washington Nationals. However, it's likely that Conforto will return to action for the second game of the series on Tuesday and he thinks he'll be available off the bench on Monday. With the Giants being cautious with Conforto to begin the week, the left-handed-hitting Mike Yastrzemski will start in right field and bat sixth for the Gigantes on Monday against Nationals right-hander Trevor Williams. Yaz will be looking for his first career hit against Williams after facing him only three previous times. Conforto has been red-hot in the early going -- 13-for-37 with three home runs and 10 RBI in the first 10 games -- so his fantasy managers will surely be hoping he's back in there on Tuesday.

Following his 2019 breakout, Mets outfielder Michael Conforto delivered another impressive campaign in 2020, despite the small sample size. In 2020, Conforto posted a .322/.412/.927 line with a career-high .927 OPS, nine home runs, and 31 RBI in 202 at-bats. Similar to 2019, most of Conforto's metrics supported his performance, making a repeat in 2021 likely. In 2020, he generated a .284 xBA, a .475 xSLG, and a wOBA of .395 which was in the top six percent of MLB. Although Conforto saw a dip in overall launch angle and exit velocity compared to 2019, the percentage of 100 mph fly balls he hit increased by almost two percent in 2020. In addition, the average exit velocity on his top-5% hardest-hit balls in the air increased by over one mph in 2020. This, combined with an 11% barrel rate in 2020, suggests he will maintain his power production in 2021. Hitting in the middle of an even more potent Mets' lineup which now includes Francisco Lindor, Conforto will again have plenty of counting stat opportunities. With a current ADP of 76, managers should confidently draft Conforto as a second OF who can provide 30 home runs, 90-100 RBI, with some slight batting average regression. When healthy, Conforto is one of the Mets' most consistent offensive producers. 2021 will be no different.
