Jung Hoo Lee News
The San Francisco Giants said that an MRI exam on outfielder Jung Hoo Lee (shoulder) showed "structural damage" in his left shoulder. Lee will go for a second opinion from Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Thursday. The 25-year-old rookie dislocated his shoulder when he crashed into the outfield wall early in Sunday's game and was placed on the injured list on Monday. Now that he's dealing with structural damage in his shoulder with the possibility of needing to go under the knife, fantasy managers may want to prepare for him to miss extended time. Lee has left a lot to be desired over the first month and a half in the big leagues with a .262/.310/.331 slash line with two homers, eight RBI and two steals. Luis Matos has started both games in center field from San Fran since Lee was hurt and figures to see much more playing time moving forward.
The San Francisco Giants placed outfielder Jung Hoo Lee (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list on Monday with a left-shoulder dislocation and recalled catcher Jakson Reetz from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move. Lee dislocated his left shoulder when he crashed into the outfield wall in Sunday's contest against the Cincinnati Reds and will now miss at least the next 10 days. Given the severity of his injury, Lee should be expected to miss more than the 10 days on the IL. The 25-year-old Japanese outfielder has hit .262/.310/.331 with two home runs, eight RBI, two stolen bases and 15 runs scored in his first 145 major-league at-bats. So far, Lee has not been a great source of counting stats in fantasy leagues. In his absence, rookie Luis Matos and Tyler Fitzgerald are likely to platoon in center field, with Matos on the strong side while facing most right-handers.
San Francisco Giants manager Bob Melvin said that outfielder Jung Hoo Lee (shoulder) suffered a separated left shoulder in Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Reds in the first inning and will go for an MRI exam. Even if Lee's MRI exam doesn't show any structural damage in his shoulder, the 25-year-old first-year outfielder could be set for an extended absence. Fantasy baseball managers should prepare for a worst-case scenario and for Lee to require a stint on the injured list. With Michael Conforto (hamstring) going on the injured list on Sunday, Luis Matos was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento. If Lee misses extended time, Matos, Heliot Ramos and Tyler Fitzgerald could all see more playing time in San Fran's outfield. Fitzgerald replaced Lee in center field on Sunday and went 1-for-5 with a run scored and a strikeout.

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee is one of the most exciting international signings of the offseason. In seven seasons with the KBO, he slashed .340/.407/.491 with 244 doubles, 65 home runs, and 69 stolen bases. Perhaps most impressively, he had 383 walks and 304 strikeouts in 884 career games. Lee's exceptional contact skills and plate discipline will likely carry over into MLB. Additionally, Oracle Park is one of the league's most expansive ballparks, especially for lefties. With lots of surface area in the outfield, there is plenty of grass for Lee's batted balls to fall. He may not hit for much power, but he should often reach base. The 25-year-old is expected to lead off for the Giants and could be a late-round value (NFBC ADP 26) for runs and stolen bases. ATC is on board with this assessment and project Lee with a .286/.352/.426 slash line with 35 2Bs, 10 HRs, nine SBs, 70 runs scored and 60 RBI. Overall, Lee could be one of fantasy's most valuable on-base options.
