Dean Kremer News
Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Dean Kremer struck out six in a dominating fashion on Sunday in the 11-1 win against the Cincinnati Reds. Kremer continued racking up the strikeouts while recording his third-straight win, moving to 3-2 on the season. He pitched six scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and a walk while striking out six. Kremer holds a 3.57 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and a 37:11 K: BB in seven starts. Since getting torched for eight runs by the Brewers on April 13, Kremer has bounced back and allowed seven runs (2.63 ERA) over his previous four starts (24 innings). The 28-year-old next projected start is against the Arizona Diamondbacks, who have had more difficulties against right-handed pitchers this season, making Kremer a solid streamer in most league formats.
Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Dean Kremer tossed seven innings of two-run ball on Tuesday against the New York Yankees en route to his second victory of the season. Kremer's damage came from two solo home runs, one from backstop Austin Wells in the third inning and the other off outfielder Juan Soto in the sixth. This was the second time this season that Kremer threw seven innings, and he now sits with a 4.19 ERA and 1.08 WHIP. The 28-year-old has now won back-to-back starts and hopes to keep the momentum rolling as he lined up to face the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday, May 5th.
Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Dean Kremer threw seven innings of one-run ball in a 3-2 loss against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. Kremer kept the Bucs at bay as he allowed five hits and one unearned run with six strikeouts. Kremer looked sharp across the first four frames, only allowing three hits. In the fifth, Edward Olivares was able to score but only reached scoring position due to a throwing error. Kremer then locked it down by only allowing one base runner over his last two innings. The Orioles were unable to hold the lead for Kremer, leaving him with a no-decision. Kremer struggled in his first start of the season as he allowed three runs in five innings, but he looked sharp today. The 28-year-old tentatively lines up for a home start against the Milwaukee Brewers on April 13.

Kremer entered the 2020 season as a little-known prospect who has spent a fair bit of time on Top 30 prospect lists but was rarely seen within the Top 10. We're one of the few prospect analysts who ranked him as a Top 10 prospect but also keep in mind that Baltimore does not have a strong system. This young hurler has solid stuff with a four-seam fastball that can tickle the mid-90s and a curveball that has shown plus potential. Kremer made four MLB starts during his debut season in 2020 and threw five different pitches including three types of fastballs. Of those five offerings, only the sinker allowed a batting average higher than .222. When things were going well, he was fairly hard to hit. But both his command and control let him down. When his pitches caught too much of the strike zone, he was hit with authority. Nine of his 15 hits went for extra bases and he allowed a Hard Hit rate of 47%. The good news is that Kremer has shown average control in the minors. He'll open the 2021 season on a club that isn't expected to win many games but Kremer could be a cheap source of strikeouts who doesn't allow many home runs.
