Roy Robertson-Harris News
According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Roy Robertson-Harris agreed to a three-year, $30 million extension with the team. The 29-year-old signed a three-year, $23.4 million contract in March 2021, so he had one year left on his current agreement. However, he's coming off the best season of his career, finishing the 2022-23 campaign with 45 total tackles, three sacks, and four passes defensed, so the team made it a priority to keep him. With the Jaguars not expected to make many high-profile moves in free agency, extending Robertson-Harris' contract allows Jacksonville to retain a core starter heading into September.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are signing free-agent safety Rudy Ford to a two-year, $4.2 million deal on Monday, according to a source. The Jaguars also agreed to a three-year, $24.4 million deal with former Chicago Bears defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris. Robertson-Harris is projected as a defensive end in a 3-4 scheme, and the Jaguars could be headed towards that specific scheme under new defensive coordinator Joe Cullen. Robertson-Harris had 7.5 sacks, 70 tackles and 30 QB hits in 52 career games in Chicago. Ford spent last year with the Philadelphia Eagles after spending his first three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. He represents a high-quality special teams player and depth at safety.
Chicago Bears impending free-agent defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris (shoulder) has been given the green light by orthopedic surgeon Frank Cordasco to work out with teams starting on April 1 after he had surgery on his shoulder in November. Robertson-Harris will be ready for training camp in July. The 27-year-old was only able to play in eight games (six starts) for the Bears in 2020 because of his injury. When he was on the field, he recorded only 10 tackles (one for loss) and five quarterback hits. In his four seasons in Chicago, Robertson-Harris has 75 combined tackles (nine for loss), 30 QB hits, six passes defensed, one fumble recovery and 7.5 sacks.
