Tyrone Taylor News
The New York Mets acquired right-hander Adrian Houser and outfielder Tyrone Taylor from the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday in exchange for a minor-league right-hander Coleman Crow, whom the Mets acquired in the Eduardo Escobar trade, according to a source. The deal clears money for the Brewers, with Houser projected to make $5.6 million in salary arbitration and Taylor $1.7 million. The 30-year-old Houser will probably be in competition for a rotation spot in New York in spring training, especially if the Mets find a way to land Japanese star Yoshinobu Yamamoto. He had a solid 4.12 ERA with 96 strikeouts and 34 walks in 111 1/3 innings covering 21 starts and two relief outings in 2023. Taylor, 29, should open 2024 as outfield depth in Queens. He played in 81 games this past season due to an elbow injury and underwhelmed by hitting .234.
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Tyrone Taylor (hamstring) is out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Miami Marlins. It's worth noting that Taylor was also out of the lineup for Thursday's game as well. It sounds like Taylor is dealing with a minor hamstring injury. Hopefully it's only a day-to-day issue and Taylor won't require a trip to the injured list. This season, Taylor is slashing an impressive .310/.344/.621 with four home runs and 12 RBI since the beginning of September. Christian Yelich, Sal Frelick, and Blake Perkins will cover the outfield versus right-hander JT Chargois on Friday.
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Tyrone Taylor is back in the starting lineup Wednesday night against the Philadelphia Phillies and left-hander Cristopher Sanchez. It's Taylor's first start since July 15, as he's missed significant time due to injuries this season, most recently being reinstated from the 10-day injured list due to an elbow injury. Taylor has appeared in just 30 games this season, struggling mightily to a .160 average with one homer, five stolen bases, and a .414 OPS across 84 trips to the plate. The righty-swinging outfielder has even struggled severely against lefties, going just 2-for-22 with zero walks against southpaws on the campaign.
