Trevor Rogers News
Miami Marlins starting pitcher Trevor Rogers posted a solid outing during Wednesday's game against the Detroit Tigers. The southpaw threw five shutout innings, allowing three hits, and a pair of walks in the win. Rogers has struggled throughout most of the season, but hopefully this performance will help him get back on track. He recorded six strikeouts in this game, which is his most since early April. Rogers will take a 5.79 ERA, 1.76 WHIP, and 37/19 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Miami Marlins will be starting left-hander Trevor Rogers on Wednesday in the series finale against the San Francisco Giants. A.J. Puk was in line to start on Wednesday afternoon, but the left-hander is dealing with an illness so will not start. Rogers has started three games for the Marlins this season and is 0-2 with a 4.80 ERA as he's pitched 15 innings allowing nine runs, eight earned while walking eight.
Miami Marlins left-hander Trevor Rogers could make his Grapefruit League debut on Tuesday after looking strong in a live batting practice session in camp on Thursday. Rogers was limited to only four starts for the Fish last year due to multiple injuries, but he appears to be healthy now and is in line to be part of the team's Opening Day rotation. "The velo was good. The secondary was great," manager Skip Schumaker said. "We really didn't know what that was going to look like because it has been a while. He was throwing 93-94 mph in a setting with not much adrenaline. To see that and to see the changeup thrown for strikes and the slider was good. A lot of positives." Fantasy managers should leave Rogers undrafted and take a wait-and-see approach with him early in the year as a potential waiver-wire pickup.

After a reasonably productive debut campaign in 2020 and a breakout season in 2021, Miami Marlins starting pitcher Trevor Rogers struggled mightily on the mound last year. He made 23 starts and logged 107 innings of work for the National League East franchise while pitching to a 5.47 ERA, a 4.36 FIP, 106 strikeouts, and 45 walks. Perhaps most notably, he surrendered 15 home runs in those 107 innings after giving up just six home runs total in 133 innings during the 2021 season, a season in which he earned All-Star honors and finished second in Rookie of the Year voting in the National League. Getting better results from his four-seam fastball might be key for Rogers. Opposing batters hit just .222 with a .305 xwOBA and a pair of home runs against the offering in that 2021 campaign. However, those numbers spiked considerably in 2022. Hitters produced a .312 average, a .401 xwOBA, and 11 home runs against the left-hander's four-seamer in 2022. Elsewhere, the 25-year-old logged just four pitcher wins in 2022, though that may partly have been due to the Marlins' struggling lineup.
