Steven Kwan News
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (hamstring) is expected to miss four weeks with an acute hamstring strain, according to Mandy Bell of MLB.com. Kwan left Saturday's 7-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels with hamstring tightness in the top of the fourth inning. However, an MRI revealed a strain for the outfielder, which will cause him to be out for approximately one month. The 26-year-old has been one of the best hitters this season, batting .353 with three home runs, 11 RBI, six doubles, and two triples in 32 games. Fantasy managers should place him in one of their injured list spots and expect a return sometime at the beginning of June.
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (hamstring) is heading to the 10-day injured list with the hamstring injury that got him pulled from Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. Kyle Manzardo is expected to be recalled as a corresponding move. It is an unfortunate injury for Kwan, as he has gotten off to a blistering start this season. The 26-year-old is slashing .353/.407/.496 with three home runs, 11 RBI, 28 runs scored and three stolen bases. Hopefully the ailment isn't overly severe and he can return in short order. Estevan Florial was batting leadoff for the Guardians on Sunday in Kwan's absence, but he is a fantasy afterthought at this point.
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (hamstring) is not in the team's starting lineup on Sunday against the visiting Los Angeles Angels after being removed from Saturday's win with left-hamstring tightness. With Kwan out, Will Brennan is starting in left field and is hitting fifth, while Estevan Florial is serving as the designated hitter and batting leadoff against Angels right-hander Griffin Canning. It's just the second time all year that Kwan hasn't been in Cleveland's lineup. We should have a better idea of the 26-year-old's availability moving forward after he undergoes an MRI exam on Sunday. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Monday to see if he's back in there for the series opener against the Detroit Tigers. Kwan has been one of the best hitters in baseball this year with a .353/.407/.496 slash line and .903 OPS, so losing him for an extended period of time would be a big blow to the Guardians and fantasy managers.

Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan's 2023 stat line looked much like his 2022 stat line, coming in at .268-5-54-93-21. The significant difference was his batting average, which was 30 points lower than in 2022, while his .313 WOBA and 100 wRC+ also took a step backward (.341 WOBA, 126 wRC+). The former fifth-round pick is one of the best in MLB at putting bat-to-ball, though, so look for the BA to bounce back in 2024. Last season, he had a 90.4% Contact%, second in all of baseball behind only the NL batting champ, Luis Arraez. He's got a minuscule 10.4% K% (98th percentile) and 11.1% Whiff% (100th percentile). When he's not putting the bat on the ball, the lefty also has a better-than-league-average BB% of 9.7% and can steal a base when he gets on (19 SB in '22, 21 in '23). ATC projections have him with a .276-5-52-79-17 line, a .319 WOBA, and 104 wRC+ in 2024. RotoBaller ranks him at 203, slightly ahead of his NFBC ADP of 208. Hitting leadoff and averaging 152 games played during his first two seasons, he'll be a reliable source of R and SB in roto leagues, and you can draft him 35 spots higher in points leagues.
