Masyn Winn News
St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn is hitting leadoff on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Angels and left-hander Reid Detmers. This will be the first time this year that Winn has hit leadoff for the Red Birds. St. Louis is looking to jump-start their offense after putting up double-digit runs for the first time this year in Monday's win over the Halos. The 22-year-old Winn has hit well for the Cardinals this year in his first full season as their starting shortstop, going 32-for-113 (.283) with no home runs, eight RBI and six stolen bases in 37 games played. The young shortstop will definitely see a boost in his season-long and DFS fantasy value if he sticks in the leadoff spot, but managers considering using him in DFS on Tuesday must consider that he's only hitting .216 (8-for-37) on the year against southpaws like Detmers.
Shortstop Masyn Winn is not in the lineup for the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday as the team hosts the New York Mets in the second game of a three-game series. The shortstop went 1-for-4 on Monday but isn't in the starting lineup, as St. Louis will be starting Brandon Crawford at shortstop, who is also batting eighth. This season, Winn is slashing .265/.333/.357 with zero home runs and seven RBI. However, the shortstop has struggled of late, as he's hitting .105 in his last five games. Winn is only eight percent owned on Yahoo and five percent on ESPN, but he isn't worth a fantasy look for the time being in standard-sized leagues until he picks things up offensively.
St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn is getting the day off on Friday versus the New York Mets on the road. It's a standard rest day for Winn after he started the previous nine games. He's off to a great start in 2024 with a .313/.385/.418 slash line with an .803 OPS, no home runs, three doubles, two triples, six RBI, four stolen bases and nine runs scored in his first 23 games in his first full season as the team's starting shortstop. Despite the strong start, he's barely hitting over .200 in his last nine contests, so the rest day is warranted. The 22-year-old should be back in there on Saturday. Veteran Brandon Crawford is at the 6 and is batting eighth on Friday against Mets right-hander Jose Butto. Crawford will be facing Butto for the first time in his career.

St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn is expected to crack the Cardinals' Opening Day roster. He was called to the majors in mid-August but struggled to adjust to big-league pitching. Winn slashed .172/.230/.238 with two doubles, two home runs, and two stolen bases across 137 plate appearances in 2023. Some of his struggles can be attributed to bad luck (he had just a .196 BABIP). Moving forward, Winn should not be written off for what he did in just 37 MLB games. He slashed .272/.351/.437 with 70 doubles, 35 home runs, and 92 stolen bases over 322 minor-league games. Right now, his NFBC ADP is 448. ATC projections expect him to slash .245/.301/.372 with 20 2Bs, 10 HRs, 13 SBs. At that rate, Winn would not be valuable in fantasy leagues outside NL-Only or deep-league formats. However, he certainly has the talent to exceed expectations in 2024, making him a late-round flier at best in upcoming drafts.
