Bobby Witt Jr. News
Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. stayed hot in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the visiting Milwaukee Brewers, going 2-for-3 with a home run and a double while scoring three runs. After doubling in the first inning, Witt greeted Brewers right-hander Joel Payamps with a solo shot to deep left center in the eighth frame. The 23-year-old former top prospect has been spectacular all year long, but over his last 15 games since April 23, he's batting .377 with the aforementioned homer, 12 RBI, 16 runs scored, and nine stolen bases. A four-game set against the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim starting on Thursday is on tap for Witt. In nine games against the Angels in his career, Witt is surprisingly hitting just .237 with three taters, 10 RBI, three runs scored, and zero steals.
Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. notched three RBI in the Royals 8-0 win over the Detroit Tigers on Friday afternoon. Witt Jr. went 1-4 with a two RBI triple and an RBI sacrifice fly. He also scored a run in the Royals' seven-run ninth. The 23-year-old now has 14 RBI on the season with a .915 OPS and leads the league in triples with four. As a top option in fantasy baseball, Witt Jr. is delivering for fantasy managers who took him in the first round. Witt Jr. faces Casey Mize on Saturday and will have a tough matchup against Tigers ace Tarik Skubal on Sunday.
Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. went 4-for-5 with two home runs, five RBI and four runs scored during Thursday's 13-3 demolition of the Houston Astros. Witt also picked up his third stolen base during the blowout. It was a banner day for the 23-year-old, who is now slashing a robust .358/.414/.755 with four home runs, eight RBI and 13 runs scored on the season. Witt looks like bonafide superstar to start 2024 and is a must-start option whenever he takes the diamond.

If you miss out on the number one pick in your drafts, Bobby Witt Jr. is a fantastic consolation prize. The Royals shortstop cast aside any 'sophomore slump' concerns by hitting .276/.319/.495 with 30 homers, 96 RBI, 97 runs and 49 steals in 158 games. Given the Royals 676 runs scored in 2023 were eighth fewest, Witt Jr. nearly reaching triple-digits for RBI and runs was a testament to his offensive talent. The Royals offense does look better heading into 2024 so there's no reason to believe Witt Jr. can't match or better those numbers in 2024. His expected numbers also suggest there's more to come from Witt Jr. with a .294 xBA, .533 xSLG and .369 xwOBA (.343 wOBA). They all ranked in the 90th percentile or better. He also dropped his strikeout rate from 21.4% in 2022 to 17.4% while raising his walk rate from 4.7% to 5.8%. That suggests he's more accustomed to Major League pitching and further reason why it's fair to believe he can improve again in 2024. You could do a lot worse with a top-three pick in your drafts than taking Witt Jr.
