Bo Bichette News
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette has been dropped to sixth in the batting order for Wednesday's contest in Philadelphia against Phillies right-hander Aaron Nola. It's the lowest spot in the batting order that Bichette has hit since August of 2022. The 26-year-old All-Star is hitting just .189/.246/.268 on the year with a homer, 11 RBI, three stolen bases, nine walks and 22 strikeouts in 138 plate appearances over 33 games. Since April 24, Bichette has gone 3-for-40 (.075) with an RBI and eight strikeouts in 11 games. He's really in an early season funk right now and should be avoided in DFS lineups until he breaks out of it. With the move down the lineup for Bichette, outfielder Daulton Varsho is hitting in the two-hole for Toronto on Wednesday. Bichette is hitting .429 in seven career at-bats against Nola with a homer and two RBI, so perhaps he can get going in a tough matchup.
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette is getting a day off on Monday against the visiting Kansas City Royals. With Bichette getting a blow, Isiah Kiner-Falefa is starting at shortstop and is hitting eighth against Royals right-hander Jonathan Bowlan. Rookie Addison Barger will play third base and bat in the nine-hole for Toronto. It's a good time for the 26-year-old Bichette to take a day off, as he has just one hit in 18 at-bats in his last five games to drop his season slash line to .210/.263/.305 with just one home run and 10 RBI in 105 at-bats. Kiner-Falefa will be a pretty mediocre, low-upside DFS option on Monday against the Royals. The 29-year-old has never faced Bowlan and is hitting .240 (18-for-75) on the year with a homer, six RBI and two stolen bases.
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette (neck) said he's feeling better and will be back in the starting lineup on Tuesday against the Houston Astros and left-hander Framber Valdez. The left side of Bichette's neck was tight the last couple of days, limiting his ability to turn and see the pitcher, but his neck has improved and he thinks he's ready to help the team on Tuesday. The 26-year-old All-Star missed the last two games with a tweaked neck, but now that he's returning, fantasy managers in single-year leagues need to get Bichette back in their lineups. Those in DFS contests might want to hold off. Bichette is off to a 2-for-12 start on the season with two RBI in his first three games before tweaking his neck. In 10 career at-bats against Valdez, Bichette has three hits (one homer) and two RBI.

Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette has been a model of consistency since entering the league in 2019. Including that 46-game showing, Bichette's bat has been at least 20% superior to the league average in each of his five seasons, as per wRC+. He has slugged a minimum of 20 home runs, and as many as 29, in each of his three full big-league campaigns and stole a career-high 25 bases in 2021. The 25-year-old has a 121-run, 102-RBI campaign under his belt (2021) and is a career .299 hitter in 528 MLB contests. While he strikes out slightly below the league average, he also sports a subpar 5.5% BB% for his career, putting a cap on his on-base potential. In 2023, he only hit 20 home runs and stole just five bases in 135 games but he also ranked in the 86th percentile or better in xwOBA, xBA, xSLG, and sweet-spot%. A hamstring injury limited his run game last season but prospective fantasy managers should look for him to get back into double-digits in stolen bases in 2024, as projected by ATC. He currently sports a 38.37 ADP as the seventh shortstop off the board but could certainly top the likes of Elly De La Cruz, Francisco Lindor, Gunnar Henderson, or even the injured Corey Seager at the end of the day. His prevailing ADP is justified by his stout history of well-above-average production across the board.
