Alex Bregman News
Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman continued to heat up offensively in Tuesday's 2-1 extra-innings win over the Athletics. Bregman went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run, and a strikeout. The 30-year-old is slashing just .225/.293/.358 in 167 plate appearances but has now hit three HR in his last two games and has been hitting much better lately. Bregman is a proven fantasy option and fantasy managers should give him time to figure things out, which he already may be doing.
Houston Astros third basemen Alex Bregman torched Oakland A's pitching, going 3-for-3 with two home runs, four RBI, and three runs scored. He started his big day with a solo home run in the fourth inning, another solo shot in the seventh, and then capped off his night with a two-run double as the Astros beat the A's 9-2. It's been an underwhelming start to the season, with his slash line at .218/.288/.327 and his demotion to the seventh spot in the batting order. Hopefully, Bregman will look to carry the momentum from Monday into the following three games against the A's pitching staff to finally get out of the early season funk he has been in.
Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman (illness) is back at third base and is hitting cleanup for the Astros on Monday against the visiting Atlanta Braves and right-hander Darius Vines after missing the last three games with an illness. Fantasy managers will want to get Bregman back in their lineups for the week. The 30-year-old will look to get things rolling at the plate after a slow start to the season. The two-time All-Star is currently slashing .241/.305/.333 with no home runs, two RBI, a stolen base, two runs scored and nine strikeouts in 59 plate appearances over his first 14 games played. This will be the first time that Bregman has faced Vines in the big leagues.

Only two hitters in 2023 had more walks than strikeouts. One -New York Yankees outfielder Juan Soto - is easy to guess. The other? Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman, who walked 92 times compared to just 87 strikeouts. His ability to be ultra-selective at the plate has allowed Bregman to produce elite counting stats and on-base skills even as he rounds the corner of age 30 in 2024. Last year was perhaps the best season of his career, as he played in 161 games, hit 25 bombs, scored 103 times, and drove in 98 runs. Gone are the days of 10 or more steals, but why would you run if you have Yordan Alvarez and Kyle Tucker hitting behind you? Many of the top 12 third basemen in drafts (Jose Ramirez, Rafael Devers, Royce Lewis, Josh Jung) have enticing upside and a level they may not have reached yet. Bregman, however, has one of the safest floors of anyone at the position. Fantasy managers can take 260-20-90-90-3 to the bank, which is great value at pick 84, where he is currently being drafted in NFBC leagues. ATC is on board with this assessment, projecting Bregman to slash .264/.365/.447 with 22 home runs, 86 RBI, 95 runs, and two stolen bases over 651 plate appearances in 2024.
